Haunted Funk

Went to see Ariel Pink tonight, which was, somewhat surprisingly, an excellent gig, thoroughly dance-able, touching upon ill-remembered Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straights, with even a hint of Nirvana creeping in there as well. But looking at the videos, I spotted a conceptual similarity - the question is of course, is Snoop Dogg the Hip-Hop-Hauntologist?
